About Darcy Edwin
Darcy Edwin is a printmaker based out of Austin, Texas.
She received her BA in Studio Art from Saint Louis University, with a triple emphasis in painting, drawing and sculpture. She was not introduced to printmaking until 5 years post graduation, through a woodcut bootcamp at Tom Huck's Evil Prints in St. Louis, MO; she hasn't put a gouge down since.
Darcy's preferred and principle method of creating is through woodcut. She primarily works in white line and is influenced by the work of Kathe Kollwitz, Fritz Eichenberg, and Tom Huck.
The inherent expressive quality of carving lends well to the subjects that inspire Darcy. Her work is informed by her background in psychology, and her professional experience with individuals with special needs as well as those with mental health diagnoses. Her work fundamentally explores the topic of human behavior; exploring the different constructs of society, mental health, relationships, and other social and psychological mechanisms that influence how we related to other and the world around us.
